Main Brief: Screenplay

I wrote our screenplay so that we knew what the actors would have to do when filming. I wrote it out by hand first and then typed the screenplay up, adding a few extra details that I forgot in the draft.

FADE IN:

EXT. MARIE’S HOUSE – NIGHT

In the dead of night, in the heart of Upminster,  an large house is empty expect for a young girl on her own.

                                                        DISSOLVE TO:

INT. MARIE’S BEDROOM – SECOND FLOOR – NIGHT

MARIE, a 16 year old college student with dark hair, is asleep in bed; its 2:15am, her television is turned on, providing a soft background noise. The DARK SHADOW, an unknown entity, stands in her bedroom by the door for a few moments. It slips out of the room, slamming the door shut behind it.

The door SLAMS and the television turns off.

MARIE suddenly wakes up, frantically glancing around the room, searching for whatever woke her up. She is breathing heavily, obviously scared.

She reaches for the lamp, but the light does not turn on. She grabs her phone (there is a TEXT from her AUNT0 and uses the flashlight to search the room again.

Creepy child’s LAUGHTER sounds from outside the room.

MARIE gets out of bed and hesitantly walks towards the door, unsure on if she is dreaming or not. She slowly opens the door, not noticing the BLACK HANDPRINTS on the exterior side of the wood.

MARIE walks down the hallway towards the stairs.

STAIRWAY

LAUGHTER and CRASHES sound from down stairs; non-diegetic HEARTBEAT and MUSIC.

MARIE slowly descends the stairs, seeing a light on somewhere in the lower level.

Something GROWLS.

KITCHEN

MARIE enters the kitchen. The DARK SHADOW appears behind her.
