After researching the makeup that we wanted to use for our main brief, I bought some Halloween face paints and decided to practise using them on my sister to see if I could achieve the look I wanted with them. However, this first trial did not go to plan as I chose to use a purplish red mixed with black, meaning the makeup did not look realistic or believable. However, I decided to test the face paint again on my hand using the bright red face paint rather than the purple and mixing it with the black on a sponge before dabbing it into my skin.
As you can see in these images, my hand appears to be bruised and almost lifeless, which is the look I really wanted to achieve with the makeup. I decided to use the same techniques and colours when putting the makeup on my face for the filming of the main brief.
This was the look I achieved for our main brief. The YouTube video below is the video from which I took inspiration for this makeup. However we decided not to use fake blood as we thought this would be overdoing the makeup and make it appear unrealistic.
